» General Gameplay Questions «
* When is the start of a battle? Is it before the Gate Card is flipped over, or after? The
"start of a battle" is when two opposing Bakugan stand on a Gate Card.
The Card is flipped over THEN brawlers can use their Ability cards.
* My ball didn't open up on the card, does it count as standing? Yes.
This is a reversal from an earlier ruling for those who keep track of
such things. The reversal was required due to a couple of Bakugan that
take up a lot of space on cards, sometimes stopping any other Bakugan
from opening up on the same card. Any time a ball stops moving and is
on a Gate card, it counts as standing/open.
* Rolling Bakugan is hard. Are there any tips on how to roll them? There
is one really good trick to getting Bakugan to open up on cards - when
you roll the Bakugan "spin" it like a top with the magnet side down
while flicking it towards the Gate cards. This small trick greatly
helps in getting Bakugan to open up on cards as the magnet will almost
always make contact with the metal in any card it touches! Advanced
players can use this trick to curve a Bakugan so that it hits the Gate
card that is furthest away as well. But the only way to get really good
at getting your Bakugan to open up is to practice.
* I only have booster packs. How do I play this game? Go here and download the rules.
* Can you play with 2 Bakugan that are the same? Sure.
You'll still need to have 3 to play the game. It is okay if 2 of them
are the same or if your opponent has one just like yours.
* Who wins in a tie? In the event of a tie: The battle is won by the first Bakugan that stood on the Gate card.
* Can you use Bakugan of different attributes in a game? Absolutely!
Some strategies actually depend on using different attributes. Some
players prefer to specialize in just one attribute, but there is no
reason why you can't play with a variety of them.
* Can you play Bakugan with more than 2 players? Sure!
Check out the multiplayer rules here. They show you how to play with 4
players. If you want to play a 2-on-2 battle like they do on the show,
then use the multiplayer set-up, but sit across from your partner. Play
as normal, but the first team to capture 3 (or 6 if you prefer) Gate
cards wins.
* When playing with the Big Game rules, do I also double my Traps? Yes!
When playing with the Big Game Rules everything gets doubled. Each
brawler starts off with 6 Bakugan, 6 Gate Cards, 6 Ability Cards, and
can have 2 Traps.
* What is Tournament Rules play? Tournament play is an exciting and challenging next step for those seeking Bakugan mastery.
There's only one rule that's different in Tournament Rules play, but it is important to know what it is before you play.
As you know in regular play, when two Bakugan are in battle both receive the Gate Attribute bonus.
In Tournament play, only one
Bakugan receives the Gate attribute bonus and that is the Bakugan in
battle with the LOWER printed G-Power.
If the Bakugan in battle are tied with the lowest printed G-Power then they both get the Gate attribute bonus.
» Traps FAQ «
* What is a Bakugan Trap? Normal
Bakugan are round and they roll. Bakugan Traps are not round. They come
in all kinds of shapes and sizes life football, pyramid, coin, cube,
drum, and tetradecahedron.
* How many Bakugan Trap can I use in a game?
You can use up to one Trap in your
unused pile at the start of a game. It goes in with your three Gate
cards, three ability cards, and three Bakugan.
* How do you play a Bakugan Trap?
You may play one of your Trap
during a battle as long as the Trap and Bakugan have the same
attribute. For example, if you are using a Pyrus Bakugan in that battle
you need to use a Pyrus Trap.
To play your Trap during a battle,
take it from your unused pile and drop it onto the Gate Card engaged in
battle. When it opens up you will see one or more attribute symbols
revealed inside it. You will now change the attribute of your Bakugan
to any one of the attributes printed inside your Trap.
Some Bakugan Trap have one hidden attribute symbol. Some have two hidden attribute symbols or more.
Only when you've run out of
Bakugan in your unused pile and are about to roll should you move your
Trap back to your unused pile.
Also included with your Bakugan
Trap are their very own ability cards. When you combine the affects of
the Trap with the affects of their Ability Cards the power can be
devastating.
Download the latest official Bakugan rules here.
* How come some Traps have a repeated attribute? Does it do anything special?
Traps with duplicate attributes printed on them do nothing extra special. They work the same as a regular Trap.
» Special Treatment Bakugan FAQ «
* What is a Special Treatment Bakugan? A
Special Treatment Bakugan is any Bakugan that doesn't look like a
normal Bakugan OR it is any Bakugan that has a special feature. So,
that would include Bakugan like; Pearl, Translucent, Dual Attribute,
Heavy Metal, Clear and anything sold in the "Special Attack" packages.
* When do you pick the attribute of an attribute changing Bakugan (Clear, Dual, and Translucent)?
Attributes are determined at the start of a battle (in other words, when the Gate Card is flipped over.)
Clear Bakugan
* How do I use a Clear Bakugan?
At the beginning of
a battle, Clear Bakugan take on the attribute of your opponent's
Bakugan. If both players have a clear Bakugan they both get to pick
which attribute they want for that battle.
* How do I use a Clear Bakugan when battling a Dual Attribute Bakugan?
The Clear Bakugan will take on the
attribute that is decided when your opponent pick's the attribute for
their Dual Attribute Bakugan.
* How do I use a Clear Bakugan against a Translucent Bakugan?
The Clear Bakugan
will take on the attribute that is decided when your opponent picks the
attribute for their Translucent Bakugan.
* When does a Clear Bakugan change its attribute? Clear
Bakugan take the attribute of their opponent at the start of the
battle. They do not constantly change as their opponent changes.
* Can a Clear Bakugan change its attribute more than once in a battle? No. You can only take on an attribute change once during a battle. They do not constantly change as their opponent changes.
Pearl Bakugan
* How do I use a Pearl Bakugan?
Pearl Bakugan can either take on
their regular G-Power bonus on a Gate Card OR the highlighted Gate
bonus... whichever one you decide!
Translucent Bakugan
* How do I use a Translucent Bakugan?
At the start of a battle, the
owner of the Translucent Bakugan may choose to either keep their
attribute OR take on the attribute of their opponent.
* How do I use a Translucent Bakugan against a Clear Bakugan? Since
a Translucent Bakugan can't take on the attribute of an attribute-less
Bakugan, you must use the attribute that the Translucent Bakugan is.
* How do I use a Translucent Bakugan against a Dual Bakugan?
After your opponent determines the
attribute of their Dual Bakugan, you may choose which attribute to use:
your original attribute or your opponent's determined attribute.
Dual Attribute Bakugan
* How do I use a Dual Attribute Bakugan?
At the beginning of
battle, the player who has the Dual Attribute Bakugan gets to choose
from the two attributes on the Bakugan they want.
* Does a Dual Attribute Bakugan get two bonuses when processing G-Power bonuses? No. A Dual Attribute Bakugan can only be one attribute at any given time.
If you have a
Dual attribute Bakugan in a battle, and it is (for example) currently
an Aquos, then it only counts as a single attribute Bakugan giving a
single G-Power bonus. If you have a Dual Bakugan in your used or unused
pile, you can pick either of the attributes for a single G-Power bonus,
but you cannot pick both for a double bonus.
This may get a
little wonky in some situations. You may need to determine the
attribute of a Dual, or other attribute changing Bakugan, at the
beginning of the battle for certain cards that may be played that
reference to the attributes of Bakugan not currently in battle.
Lastly, a Clear Bakugan in a used or unused pile would not count as having ANY attribute until it is given one in a battle.
Special Attack Bakugan
* What are Special Attack Bakugan? Special
Attack Bakugan are the same round shape as a regular Bakugan ball, but
have special features that add to the overall drama and intensity of
each battle.
* How do I use a Special Attack Bakugan? When it comes to gameplay, Special Attack Bakugan are played just like any other Bakugan, but they are just more fun!
» General Card Questions «
* A Gate Card refers to Bakugan of different ‘color'. What does this mean? Basically, ‘color' means ‘attribute'. Please treat the special instructions that refer to ‘color' as meaning ‘attribute'.
* A Gate Card refers to Bakugan of different ‘type'. What does this mean? Basically, ‘type' means the different breed of the Bakugan, such as a Preyas, Drago, Skyress, Terrorclaw, etc.
* Can I play with both Series 1 and Series 2 cards? Sure.
As long as you and your opponent both agree, feel free to use both
cards. A few of the Series 1 Gate cards will be over-powered if you
play this way, but they will still work. If you decide to go this
route, try to ignore HSP and stick with the Series 2 victory condition
of winning three Gate cards. Over time, you'll likely stop using Series
1 cards as the game moves forward and more brawlers play with Series 2
rules. Series 1 Bakugan will work well in either set of rules.
* Can I play with all of my Gate and Ability cards? The
current rules are that you play with 3 gate and 3 ability cards. This
makes choosing what to play with an important part of your strategy.
However, if you and your opponent agree, you can play however you want.
* Does a card that mentions a specific Bakugan also work for evolved forms of that Bakugan? For
example, does the Skyress card work with a Storm Skyress? Yes! Any card
that works for a particular version of a Bakugan works on all evolved
versions of that Bakugan. This works backwards too! If there was a card
that called out Storm Skyress for example, it would also work on the
normal Skyress.
* I have a card that says something about all Bakugan "with special treatments", what are those? A
special treatment Bakugan is any that doesn't look "normal." This would
include any clear, translucent, pearly, heavy metal, reverse attribute,
dual attribute, etc. Basically, if the attribute is made of normal
colored plastic then it is a normal treatment Bakugan. The attribute
switching Preyas is not a special treatment as it is made out of the
correct color of plastic, but the clear version is in fact a special
treatment Bakugan.
* How can I tell the difference between an Ability card and a Gate card? Gate
cards have metal in the middle of them. They don't bend and are much
heavier. Ability cards bend and feel like a normal playing card.
* How do you know what color your Gate and Ability cards are? A
card's color is decided by the "frame color." This is the color that is
behind the card's name. The colors of Gate Cards are Gold, Silver and
Bronze. The colors of Ability Cards are Red, Blue and Green.
* If a card refers to the 'lowest printed G-Power' does altering the G-Power of a Bakugan modify this rule? No, if a card directs you to use the 'lowest printed G-Power' always refer to the printed G-Power, regardless of its modification from Ability cards.
» Gate Card Questions «
* The Rainbow Gate Card is confusing. How do I use it? Each
Bakugan gets a G-Power bonus for each different attribute that the
owner is using in the game. Basically, the word ‘color' means
‘attribute'. The Season 1 Rainbow Gate Card can be quite confusing with
its wording. The Season 2 version has been modified to help brawlers
understand how to use it.
* What is the highlight around one of the attribute bonuses on the Gate card for? You
can safely ignore that... for now... That is called the "highlighted
bonus" and there will be cards that come out in the future (as well as
Bakugan) that will use that number. When playing a collectable game
like Bakugan, things will get updated from time to time, and some
things that might not currently make sense will get updated to keep the
game fresh and exciting.
* When I win a battle, do I get to keep my opponent's Gate Card and/or Bakugan forever? Definitely
not! The gate cards are used to keep track of who is winning (first
player to win 3 battles wins the game), but after the game, all game
pieces are given back to their owners.
* Does a player need to "activate" a Gate card? No.
Gate cards are turned over and used when a battle occurs. A battle
happens any time two Bakugan from different players open on the same
card. That said, the Gate's attribute bonus is only granted at the end
of a battle after all the players have used all the Ability cards that
they want.
* If my opponent has a Gate
card that says his Bakugan gets the gate bonus an extra time, does that
mean that I don't get a bonus at all? No. You get your bonus as normal. Your opponent gets their normal bonus and then gets their normal bonus a second time.
* Do Gate cards get replaced after they are won? Players
put out new Gate cards only when there are no Gate cards left in the
Field. There are some effects that allow Gate cards to be played to the
field in other circumstances. However, in general, Gate cards only get
played when there are none left in the field.
» Ability Card Questions «
* When I play an ability card that gives a G-Power bonus does my opponent also get the bonus? No.
The card should be clear as to how the gameplay will work. For
instance, it may say "Your Bakugan gains G-Power based on its
Attribute." This only affects your Bakugan.
* How many times can I use an Ability card in a game? Once.
Then they go to your "Used Pile." There are some clever ways to get a
card back from your used pile to use again, but generally, just one use
of an ability card per game is allowed.
* When I play the Doom card do I get to keep my opponent's Bakugan for good? No. The Doom card just takes your opponent's Bakugan out of the game, not into your pocket!
* Do Ability cards that offer bonus based on Gate card G-Power bonuses stack? No,
they do not. For example, if a Gate card had 200 G-Power and the
Ability card doubled that, you would get 400 G-Power. If your opponent
threw down the same card, he would only get 400 G-Power as well since
the Ability card boosts Gate card G-Power, not Gate + Ability combined.
» Bakugan Questions «
Reverse Color Bakugan
*Do Reverse Color Bakugan do anything special in battle? No. Reverse Color Bakugan do not have any special rule. They just look really cool!
* What is the best/most powerful/coolest/most awesome Bakugan? The
one that wins the battle! Every Bakugan is good at different times if
you use it well. The highest G-Power Bakugan is generally considered
the "best" but there are lots of times when smaller is better. Even the
lowest G-Power Bakugan can win on Duck and Win.
* How do I use the attribute switching Preyas? Use
it as normal. Each time it opens up, it will change to a new attribute.
The player doesn't get to change it by hand during the game by spinning
it - it will change all by itself. Whatever attribute symbol is shown
when it opens is the one it is for that battle.
* How many different Bakugan are there? There are 48 different Bakugan types for Season 1: 1. Reaper 2. Battletron 3. Fear Ripper 4. Dragonoid 5. Saurus 6. Serpenoid 7. Falconeer 8. Juggernoid 9. Laserman 10. Centipoid 11. Griffon 12. Stinglash 13. Hydranoid (Heavy Metal) 14. Delta Dragonoid II (Heavy Metal) 15. Preyas (a few versions) 16. Tigrerra 17. Skyress 18. Gorem 19. Mantris 20. Terrorclaw 21. Garganoid 22. Siege 23. Tuskor 24. Cycloid 25. Manion 26. Hynoid 27. Hammer Gorem 28. Preyas II (a few versions) 29. Blade Tigrerra 30. Storm Skyress 31. Ravenoid 32. Warius 33. * What is an attribute? What is a "type of Bakugan?" The
Attribute is the color/symbol on your Bakugan that represents: Pyrus,
Aquos, Ventus, Darkus, Subterra, or Haos. "Types" of Bakugan refers to
the shape of the Bakugan. So a Pyrus Dragonoid's attribute is Pyrus,
and it's type is Dragonoid.
* Where do you find a Bakugan's G-Power? A
Bakugan's G-power can't be seen until the Bakugan opens. When you first
open a Bakugan package, there will be a small rectangular sticker that
covers up the Bakugan's G-Power. Remove the sticker to see what the
Bakugan's G-Power is.
